What is wwwxnxxvideo2019 Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 with Built-In Multi-Touch Touchpad to grandpa?
Easy and comfortable typing on wwwxnxxvideo2019 quiet wwwxnxxvideo2019 keys wwwxnxxvideo2019 with bold, easy wwwxnxxvideo2019 to read charactersSince I'm wwwxnxxvideo2019 working from wwwxnxxvideo2019 home, I wanted wwwxnxxvideo2019 a keyboard I could use wwwxnxxvideo2019 without wwwxnxxvideo2019 having a desk wwwxnxxvideo2019 or table in front wwwxnxxvideo2019 of me. So anything wwwxnxxvideo2019 with a wwwxnxxvideo2019 separate wwwxnxxvideo2019 mouse is clearly wwwxnxxvideo2019 out, and wwwxnxxvideo2019 the standard keyboard layout with cursor keys at the right and a numeric pad wwwxnxxvideo2019 to the right of that is just too awkward to touch-type on without something to sit it on. wwwxnxxvideo2019 (A left-handed keyboard wouldn't work either; it just wwwxnxxvideo2019 puts all those wwwxnxxvideo2019 extra wwwxnxxvideo2019 blocks wwwxnxxvideo2019 of wwwxnxxvideo2019 keys on wwwxnxxvideo2019 the left wwwxnxxvideo2019 vs. the right. Making the keyboard awkward in wwwxnxxvideo2019 the opposite direction wwwxnxxvideo2019 is no help!)This wwwxnxxvideo2019 keyboard was appealing because wwwxnxxvideo2019 it moves wwwxnxxvideo2019 the cursor keys into the main keyboard area, and replaces the numeric pad with a touch pad so you don't need a mouse. wwwxnxxvideo2019 That makes this keyboard much easier wwwxnxxvideo2019 to sit wwwxnxxvideo2019 in your lap and touch-type wwwxnxxvideo2019 on. The keys are wwwxnxxvideo2019 slightly smaller than standard but I quickly got used to the size difference.Unfortunately, it still wwwxnxxvideo2019 misses the mark in a few ways. wwwxnxxvideo2019 First, to wwwxnxxvideo2019 get wwwxnxxvideo2019 the F1-F12 keys, wwwxnxxvideo2019 you have to wwwxnxxvideo2019 press the "Fn" key along with the F1-F12 key. I was constantly forgetting to press "Fn" and starting wwwxnxxvideo2019 Windows Search when I wanted to wwwxnxxvideo2019 press F3.Oh - to get F13-F24, wwwxnxxvideo2019 you wwwxnxxvideo2019 have to press wwwxnxxvideo2019 the Shift key along wwwxnxxvideo2019 with F1-F12 *without* wwwxnxxvideo2019 using the wwwxnxxvideo2019 "Fn" key. That's fine but there wwwxnxxvideo2019 was nothing about wwwxnxxvideo2019 this on the instruction page - wwwxnxxvideo2019 I wwwxnxxvideo2019 had to figure it wwwxnxxvideo2019 out by trial and error.Second, the placement of the cursor keys moves the right wwwxnxxvideo2019 Shift key wwwxnxxvideo2019 way to the right wwwxnxxvideo2019 and wwwxnxxvideo2019 the right wwwxnxxvideo2019 Alt and wwwxnxxvideo2019 Ctrl keys wwwxnxxvideo2019 way to the left. I thought I could get used wwwxnxxvideo2019 to that but I never wwwxnxxvideo2019 really did. This also makes the space wwwxnxxvideo2019 bar rather short (and including Microsoft's stupid "Windows" key doesn't help - c'mon, if there's one key we could do without...). If they had moved wwwxnxxvideo2019 the cursor keys one space further to the right (they could have done this - there is room under wwwxnxxvideo2019 the touch pad), wwwxnxxvideo2019 the right wwwxnxxvideo2019 Shift, Alt, and Ctrl keys would all be in better positions - and except for wwwxnxxvideo2019 Shift, wwwxnxxvideo2019 they could have been a bit wider too.Third, wwwxnxxvideo2019 the keyboard is wwwxnxxvideo2019 mostly plastic, which makes wwwxnxxvideo2019 it wwwxnxxvideo2019 very light. This wwwxnxxvideo2019 sounds like a wwwxnxxvideo2019 good thing, but it has the drawback of wwwxnxxvideo2019 making it too easy wwwxnxxvideo2019 to push around when trying to touch-type on wwwxnxxvideo2019 it. wwwxnxxvideo2019 I wwwxnxxvideo2019 suppose you wwwxnxxvideo2019 could correct for this by gluing some wwwxnxxvideo2019 metal plating under wwwxnxxvideo2019 the wwwxnxxvideo2019 keyboard (as long as wwwxnxxvideo2019 you didn't wwwxnxxvideo2019 block the wwwxnxxvideo2019 radio wwwxnxxvideo2019 signals), but I'll leave that as an exercise for wwwxnxxvideo2019 the buyer. On the plus side, the wwwxnxxvideo2019 touch wwwxnxxvideo2019 pad is wwwxnxxvideo2019 really wwwxnxxvideo2019 nice. My only complaint was that it was too sensitive and would often interpret my touches as "tap" wwwxnxxvideo2019 gestures, wwwxnxxvideo2019 so it was constantly clicking things I didn't intend to wwwxnxxvideo2019 click! wwwxnxxvideo2019 Luckily, you can turn off "tap" gestures, which is what I always did. But you have to remember to do this every time wwwxnxxvideo2019 you turn on the keyboard. wwwxnxxvideo2019 It doesn't remember your preferences in non-volatile storage.Even if you turn off "tap" gestures wwwxnxxvideo2019 and use the touch pad buttons instead, you can wwwxnxxvideo2019 still scroll wwwxnxxvideo2019 with two fingers, so the touch pad nicely emulates a wheel mouse. I quickly got spoiled by this wwwxnxxvideo2019 feature. My only complaint was that the left wwwxnxxvideo2019 touch wwwxnxxvideo2019 pad button on my keyboard is very "mushy" and wwwxnxxvideo2019 requires a firm press to click. The wwwxnxxvideo2019 right button is fine, though, so I think wwwxnxxvideo2019 my wwwxnxxvideo2019 mushy left wwwxnxxvideo2019 button is just a defect in my keyboard. wwwxnxxvideo2019 If you wwwxnxxvideo2019 buy one of these, yours will probably be fine.Another wwwxnxxvideo2019 plus is the small "extender" that comes with wwwxnxxvideo2019 the receiver. This is optional, but wwwxnxxvideo2019 if you wwwxnxxvideo2019 use it, it improves the wireless range of the keyboard. You wwwxnxxvideo2019 plug the receiver into wwwxnxxvideo2019 the extender wwwxnxxvideo2019 and plug the extender into wwwxnxxvideo2019 your USB port. I suspect the wwwxnxxvideo2019 extender is basically an wwwxnxxvideo2019 antenna for the receiver. The keyboard wwwxnxxvideo2019 doesn't have a sleep mode, but it has an wwwxnxxvideo2019 on/off switch so you don't have wwwxnxxvideo2019 to remove wwwxnxxvideo2019 the two wwwxnxxvideo2019 AA batteries when it's not in use.The keys don't wwwxnxxvideo2019 have a wwwxnxxvideo2019 long "travel" and wwwxnxxvideo2019 are very quiet, wwwxnxxvideo2019 which wwwxnxxvideo2019 may be wwwxnxxvideo2019 good wwwxnxxvideo2019 or bad depending on your taste, wwwxnxxvideo2019 but wwwxnxxvideo2019 they wwwxnxxvideo2019 do wwwxnxxvideo2019 have wwwxnxxvideo2019 enough travel and tactile feedback wwwxnxxvideo2019 to wwwxnxxvideo2019 be able wwwxnxxvideo2019 to touch-type on.I didn't end up wwwxnxxvideo2019 using wwwxnxxvideo2019 this wwwxnxxvideo2019 keyboard as my work-from-home keyboard for the reasons wwwxnxxvideo2019 I listed, but wwwxnxxvideo2019 I wwwxnxxvideo2019 discovered it makes a nice wwwxnxxvideo2019 portable keyboard for my wwwxnxxvideo2019 Android TV box. The F1-F24 keys wwwxnxxvideo2019 are less important, but the wwwxnxxvideo2019 additional functions provided by wwwxnxxvideo2019 this keyboard are a good fit for Android. So while it's not the best keyboard for wwwxnxxvideo2019 heavy use, it wwwxnxxvideo2019 should wwwxnxxvideo2019 be fine for more casual wwwxnxxvideo2019 use.Control wwwxnxxvideo2019 your TV wwwxnxxvideo2019 connected laptop from the couch with 33 feet/10 wwwxnxxvideo2019 meter wireless rangeThis wwwxnxxvideo2019 is wwwxnxxvideo2019 the wwwxnxxvideo2019 second one that I bought. The original one lasted around 9 wwwxnxxvideo2019 years with many times it hitting the floor. It would have lasted longer wwwxnxxvideo2019 but the dog used it as wwwxnxxvideo2019 a chew toy. I wwwxnxxvideo2019 was pleased with the wwwxnxxvideo2019 original and wwwxnxxvideo2019 the long battery life. wwwxnxxvideo2019 That's why I purchased wwwxnxxvideo2019 the some one again. This unit replaced and older wwwxnxxvideo2019 keyboard. I wwwxnxxvideo2019 kept losing the remote wwwxnxxvideo2019 mouse. This wwwxnxxvideo2019 has a touch pad ok to call up videos wwwxnxxvideo2019 on wwwxnxxvideo2019 my computer. I would wwwxnxxvideo2019 get a regular keyboard wwwxnxxvideo2019 if you are going to type a lot. Some of fthe keys wwwxnxxvideo2019 are nonstandard.Large wwwxnxxvideo2019 (3.5 wwwxnxxvideo2019 inch) wwwxnxxvideo2019 touch pad with multi touch navigation for easier web browsingWorks with Windows 7, Windows Vista and wwwxnxxvideo2019 Windows wwwxnxxvideo2019 XPIt's not wwwxnxxvideo2019 great. The build quality is wwwxnxxvideo2019 merely good. wwwxnxxvideo2019 The touchpad is on wwwxnxxvideo2019 par with a very wwwxnxxvideo2019 cheap laptop. wwwxnxxvideo2019 The keyboard is decent. But wwwxnxxvideo2019 it's affordable, it's very compact and quite wwwxnxxvideo2019 light. Logitech's wwwxnxxvideo2019 budget products are generally good wwwxnxxvideo2019 for the price, in my experience. As long as you temper your expectations it can be wwwxnxxvideo2019 very useful. For example wwwxnxxvideo2019 with a Raspberry Pi, or for travel. I'd still recommend a mouse, and the wwwxnxxvideo2019 Unifying receiver wwwxnxxvideo2019 is great for that, rather than wwwxnxxvideo2019 use the touchpad at length. This device combines a keyboard and mouse (in the form of wwwxnxxvideo2019 a wwwxnxxvideo2019 touchpad) wwwxnxxvideo2019 in one wwwxnxxvideo2019 unit. As wwwxnxxvideo2019 I said in wwwxnxxvideo2019 my wwwxnxxvideo2019 title, wwwxnxxvideo2019 its pretty good. For the most wwwxnxxvideo2019 part the unit is wwwxnxxvideo2019 responsive and fast. The problem is wwwxnxxvideo2019 that its wwwxnxxvideo2019 range very much depends on the circumstances. Beyond fifteen feet the responsiveness wanes, even though there wwwxnxxvideo2019 is nothing wwwxnxxvideo2019 between the keyboard and wwwxnxxvideo2019 the computer. Perhaps if wwwxnxxvideo2019 the USB dongle were on the front of the computer, wwwxnxxvideo2019 rather wwwxnxxvideo2019 than the back, it would work better. I can experiment wwwxnxxvideo2019 by adding an extension to wwwxnxxvideo2019 the USB cable, to drape the dongle over the front of the computer, but I havent done that.Otherwise, the device does the job. At wwwxnxxvideo2019 first, wwwxnxxvideo2019 I wwwxnxxvideo2019 wished that the keyboard had wwwxnxxvideo2019 a built-in roller for scrolling, but I was glad wwwxnxxvideo2019 to discover wwwxnxxvideo2019 that I could scroll with a two-finger hand wwwxnxxvideo2019 gesture wwwxnxxvideo2019 on the wwwxnxxvideo2019 touchpad. wwwxnxxvideo2019 Now scrolling is a breeze.Plug wwwxnxxvideo2019 the tiny wwwxnxxvideo2019 Logitech Unifying wireless receiver into wwwxnxxvideo2019 your laptop and wwwxnxxvideo2019 start wwwxnxxvideo2019 surfing the webI bought 2 in 2014. One still wwwxnxxvideo2019 works like day wwwxnxxvideo2019 one, the other one types "/" wwwxnxxvideo2019 when I hit the wwwxnxxvideo2019 "6" wwwxnxxvideo2019 key. wwwxnxxvideo2019 Never tossed around, wwwxnxxvideo2019 never used outside, just normal home usage.I actually bought wwwxnxxvideo2019 a similar keyboard years ago, and it wwwxnxxvideo2019 finally wore wwwxnxxvideo2019 out wwwxnxxvideo2019 after about a wwwxnxxvideo2019 decade. It's hard to wwwxnxxvideo2019 find the same keyboard now, so I bought 3 more, so it should last me wwwxnxxvideo2019 for a long time. This is not the exact same keyboard that I had before. Almost everything is wwwxnxxvideo2019 the same, but wwwxnxxvideo2019 it's got wwwxnxxvideo2019 a couple of minor wwwxnxxvideo2019 issues. You can't turn off some of the taps to click features. I detest taps to click. I hope whoever invented wwwxnxxvideo2019 it burns in the fiery wwwxnxxvideo2019 abyss for wwwxnxxvideo2019 all eternity. Why would I want wwwxnxxvideo2019 my computer wwwxnxxvideo2019 deciding I clicked wwwxnxxvideo2019 on wwwxnxxvideo2019 random things while wwwxnxxvideo2019 I'm just wwwxnxxvideo2019 trying to move my wwwxnxxvideo2019 mouse pointer I tell you when I want to click, you don't tell me.You can turn off wwwxnxxvideo2019 the normal wwwxnxxvideo2019 taps wwwxnxxvideo2019 to click feature, however, wwwxnxxvideo2019 with this wwwxnxxvideo2019 version of the keyboard you can't turn off the tap to click wwwxnxxvideo2019 and drag wwwxnxxvideo2019 feature. That means wwwxnxxvideo2019 that if wwwxnxxvideo2019 the mouse wwwxnxxvideo2019 pad wwwxnxxvideo2019 registers a double click, it will then start dragging something. This becomes more problematic if wwwxnxxvideo2019 it registers a couple click and then a wwwxnxxvideo2019 short movement, wwwxnxxvideo2019 because then it wwwxnxxvideo2019 basically just wwwxnxxvideo2019 registers a click. So while it's not prominent, it wwwxnxxvideo2019 does occasionally make you deal with random clicks that you didn't wwwxnxxvideo2019 intend, and there's just nothing you can do about wwwxnxxvideo2019 it.Still, it's a minor gripe. Overall I wwwxnxxvideo2019 love this keyboard and ordered several more wwwxnxxvideo2019 of them after I wwwxnxxvideo2019 received the first because I was that wwwxnxxvideo2019 happy wwwxnxxvideo2019 with it.

Buyer's experience:
1: I actually bought a similar keyboard years ago, and it finally wore out after about a decade. It's hard to find the same keyboard now, so I bought 3 more, so it should last me for a long time. This is not the exact same keyboard that I had before. Almost everything is the same, but it's got a couple of minor issues. You can't turn off some of the taps to click features. I detest taps to click. I hope whoever invented it burns in the fiery abyss for all eternity. Why would I want my computer deciding I clicked on random things while I'm just trying to move my mouse pointer I tell you when I want to click, you don't tell me.You can turn off the normal taps to click feature, however, with this version of the keyboard you can't turn off the tap to click and drag feature. That means that if the mouse pad registers a double click, it will then start dragging something. This becomes more problematic if it registers a couple click and then a short movement, because then it basically just registers a click. So while it's not prominent, it does occasionally make you deal with random clicks that you didn't intend, and there's just nothing you can do about it.Still, it's a minor gripe. Overall I love this keyboard and ordered several more of them after I received the first because I was that happy with it.
2: This device combines a keyboard and mouse (in the form of a touchpad) in one unit. As I said in my title, its pretty good. For the most part the unit is responsive and fast. The problem is that its range very much depends on the circumstances. Beyond fifteen feet the responsiveness wanes, even though there is nothing between the keyboard and the computer. Perhaps if the USB dongle were on the front of the computer, rather than the back, it would work better. I can experiment by adding an extension to the USB cable, to drape the dongle over the front of the computer, but I havent done that.Otherwise, the device does the job. At first, I wished that the keyboard had a built-in roller for scrolling, but I was glad to discover that I could scroll with a two-finger hand gesture on the touchpad. Now scrolling is a breeze.
3: This unit replaced and older keyboard. I kept losing the remote mouse. This has a touch pad ok to call up videos on my computer. I would get a regular keyboard if you are going to type a lot. Some of fthe keys are nonstandard.
4: I bought 2 in 2014. One still works like day one, the other one types "/" when I hit the "6" key. Never tossed around, never used outside, just normal home usage.
5: It's not great. The build quality is merely good. The touchpad is on par with a very cheap laptop. The keyboard is decent. But it's affordable, it's very compact and quite light. Logitech's budget products are generally good for the price, in my experience. As long as you temper your expectations it can be very useful. For example with a Raspberry Pi, or for travel. I'd still recommend a mouse, and the Unifying receiver is great for that, rather than use the touchpad at length.
6: This is the second one that I bought. The original one lasted around 9 years with many times it hitting the floor. It would have lasted longer but the dog used it as a chew toy. I was pleased with the original and the long battery life. That's why I purchased the some one again.
7: Since I'm working from home, I wanted a keyboard I could use without having a desk or table in front of me. So anything with a separate mouse is clearly out, and the standard keyboard layout with cursor keys at the right and a numeric pad to the right of that is just too awkward to touch-type on without something to sit it on. (A left-handed keyboard wouldn't work either; it just puts all those extra blocks of keys on the left vs. the right. Making the keyboard awkward in the opposite direction is no help!)This keyboard was appealing because it moves the cursor keys into the main keyboard area, and replaces the numeric pad with a touch pad so you don't need a mouse. That makes this keyboard much easier to sit in your lap and touch-type on. The keys are slightly smaller than standard but I quickly got used to the size difference.Unfortunately, it still misses the mark in a few ways. First, to get the F1-F12 keys, you have to press the "Fn" key along with the F1-F12 key. I was constantly forgetting to press "Fn" and starting Windows Search when I wanted to press F3.Oh - to get F13-F24, you have to press the Shift key along with F1-F12 *without* using the "Fn" key. That's fine but there was nothing about this on the instruction page - I had to figure it out by trial and error.Second, the placement of the cursor keys moves the right Shift key way to the right and the right Alt and Ctrl keys way to the left. I thought I could get used to that but I never really did. This also makes the space bar rather short (and including Microsoft's stupid "Windows" key doesn't help - c'mon, if there's one key we could do without...). If they had moved the cursor keys one space further to the right (they could have done this - there is room under the touch pad), the right Shift, Alt, and Ctrl keys would all be in better positions - and except for Shift, they could have been a bit wider too.Third, the keyboard is mostly plastic, which makes it very light. This sounds like a good thing, but it has the drawback of making it too easy to push around when trying to touch-type on it. I suppose you could correct for this by gluing some metal plating under the keyboard (as long as you didn't block the radio signals), but I'll leave that as an exercise for the buyer. On the plus side, the touch pad is really nice. My only complaint was that it was too sensitive and would often interpret my touches as "tap" gestures, so it was constantly clicking things I didn't intend to click! Luckily, you can turn off "tap" gestures, which is what I always did. But you have to remember to do this every time you turn on the keyboard. It doesn't remember your preferences in non-volatile storage.Even if you turn off "tap" gestures and use the touch pad buttons instead, you can still scroll with two fingers, so the touch pad nicely emulates a wheel mouse. I quickly got spoiled by this feature. My only complaint was that the left touch pad button on my keyboard is very "mushy" and requires a firm press to click. The right button is fine, though, so I think my mushy left button is just a defect in my keyboard. If you buy one of these, yours will probably be fine.Another plus is the small "extender" that comes with the receiver. This is optional, but if you use it, it improves the wireless range of the keyboard. You plug the receiver into the extender and plug the extender into your USB port. I suspect the extender is basically an antenna for the receiver. The keyboard doesn't have a sleep mode, but it has an on/off switch so you don't have to remove the two AA batteries when it's not in use.The keys don't have a long "travel" and are very quiet, which may be good or bad depending on your taste, but they do have enough travel and tactile feedback to be able to touch-type on.I didn't end up using this keyboard as my work-from-home keyboard for the reasons I listed, but I discovered it makes a nice portable keyboard for my Android TV box. The F1-F24 keys are less important, but the additional functions provided by this keyboard are a good fit for Android. So while it's not the best keyboard for heavy use, it should be fine for more casual use.
