The "last hurrah" for DDR4 x video old as Intel (and AMD) are moving forward with DDR5 only chipsets. It has all the ports and connectors that x video old a x video old modern enthusiast x video old may want (and expansion cards for creatives). I believe x video old they're x video old the only x video old OEM including a (16gb) usb drive instead of a (useless) driver disc, x video old which x video old is much appreciated and should be standardized moving forward. Also, it's nice x video old to see x video old this x video old board hasn't needed to be recalled due x video old to rushed, subpar x video old manufacturing (i.e., Gigabyte).Build quality is top notch x video old and the BIOS x video old fault light indicators and rear I/O quick-flash x video old button is much appreciated. Be sure to download x video old the x video old latest (stable) drivers from MSI's x video old website prior to installing Windows to x video old avoid any headaches. x video old Otherwise, x video old this is another quality addition to team MSI.2.5G x video old LAN and Intel Wi-Fi 6E Solution: Upgradednetwork solution for professional x video old and multimedia x video old use. x video old Delivers x video old a secure, stable and fast network connectionLightning M.2:Running x video old at PCIe Gen4 x4 maximizes performance for NVMe based SSDsReviewing the DDR4 version. Overall, very pleased x video old with this motherboard (MB hereafter). Mostly well-thought-out design, x video old good features, and does what it's supposed to. A x video old few details:Pros:Four (4!) NVMe SSD connections on the MB. I only needed one to start (Samsung 980 EVO x video old Pro x video old 2 x video old TB), but its x video old good to have room for expansion.NVMe slots are well-designed. built-in x video old heavy-duty x video old heat sinks, and excellent x video old screw-less hold-downs. In fact, x video old good heat x video old sinks all over the MG. None x video old of them got x video old in the way.Nice x video old wireless x video old antennas for the back. You must angle them a bit to get at all x video old the USB connections, but x video old not a x video old big deal. Works well.Nice debug LEDs on the x video old MB to tell x video old you which components aren't working x video old correctly. Fortunately, didn't x video old need them this build, but x video old who knows what future upgrades will bring.Drivers come on a cute little flash drive x video old (good) x video old but the only x video old thing x video old on there is an x video old ISO image. You have to mount it to x video old be able to use x video old it (not difficult, but WHY Weird).Back plate for connectors comes x video old mounted x video old to the MB. No fiddly x video old attempts to get it x video old snapped into the case x video old first and then trying to align the x video old MB with x video old the connector holes. Much x video old easier this way.Everything x video old was nicely labeled right on x video old the MB itself, x video old such as jumper connections, fan connectors, etc. x video old Didn't really need to refer to x video old the manual much.Things to be aware x video old of:Flashing the BIOS is a little x video old bit of a pain since x video old you must do it from the BIOS screen. x video old No In-Windows utility to x video old do it x video old from x video old there.Installing Windows 11 is x video old a small pain because it requires a network x video old connection during the install process, x video old and the wireless connection using this MB is not available at that time (Windows installer can't find it). You'll need a wired connection to the internet, x video old or as I x video old did, a x video old USB wireless network x video old adapter to plug x video old in during x video old the installation. Once the install x video old gets x video old past connecting x video old you to x video old the internet and finds drivers for the wireless x video old on the MB, everything x video old should be fine.I did note x video old that the basic x video old drivers installed for the wireless x video old during x video old the initial x video old Windows 11 x video old install did not get x video old me a very good wireless connection - about 80 x video old Mbps down. Once I x video old completed all the Windows updates x video old and correct driver installs, that x video old connection shot up to about 370 Mbps, so all was well x video old eventually.BIOS settings documentation could be a x video old lot x video old better. Worked out x video old fine, but x video old I would have liked to see it be a little x video old clearer (or exist at all).Overall, a x video old solid recommended. Most of the problems are minor annoyances x video old you only deal with during setup or x video old on rare occasions. I'm happy with it after using it for 3 days.Update 2022-06-12: After using this for a couple weeks, x video old the x video old WiFi integration on x video old this mobo has proved to be x video old pretty bad in my case. x video old Speeds fell x video old again to 10 Mbps or less x video old and refuse all x video old attempts to be restored to normal. x video old Granted, this x video old could be something to do with Windows config (though I worked with x video old that a lot to try x video old and fix this issue). However, I purchased and installed the TP-Link WiFi 6E x video old AX5400 PCIe WiFi card, dropped x video old it x video old into a PCIe slot, and speeds are stable and consistent at 380-420 Mbps. Extra expense, but not too much, and the x video old wifi is happy x video old again (me too). Everything else on x video old the mobo is working x video old well.Supports x video old 12th Gen x video old Intel x video old Core / Pentium / Celeron processors x video old for x video old LGA 1700 socketI chose this motherboard for x video old my x video old daughters x video old gaming computer/high x video old school x video old graduation present. We pared it with an i7-12700k processor, 32 GB of GSkill DDR4 3200 RAM, a 1TB NVME x video old SSD, x video old a Scythe Fuma 2 Rev. B cpu cooler and an MSI x video old RX6700XT graphics card. My first impression was with the weight of the x video old board. It has x video old a very solid x video old feel to it. It has tons of I.O. on the back. x video old Plenty x video old of x video old USB connections and x video old a USB Type C port, HDMI x video old and x video old display ports if you aren't using x video old a x video old dedicated graphics card, WiFi Antenna connectors (a x video old must because her room doesn't have LAN x video old jack), x video old a 2.5Gbps LAN port x video old and audio x video old ports. x video old This was our x video old first x video old PC x video old build and it x video old went very smoothly. x video old Installing the CPU, x video old RAM and x video old the x video old NVME x video old was very easy. The only slightly difficult part x video old was making sure we installed the x video old front I.O. connectors correctly. The x video old power, power LED, and the hard drive LED x video old connectors are x video old very small. Luckily my daughter has smaller hands and better eyes than I do, so she was able to get them connected. There should be a universal connector for those. x video old After all the connections were made and all of the fans were installed we x video old crossed our x video old fingers and hit the x video old power switch. It worked the first time! It went x video old into the x video old BIOS x video old and we made sure it was finding all of the memory and the SSD. We x video old proceeded x video old to install Windows 11 and update x video old the drivers. x video old Everything seems to be working correctly. x video old She is having x video old a x video old some sound quality issues with x video old the x video old Blue Tooth connection to her ear pods. x video old We x video old may need to double check x video old the x video old driver x video old on that x video old one. So far x video old I'm happy with the x video old purchase. It's a little x video old more expensive than some of the other x video old Z690 motherboards, but x video old it's well x video old built, x video old has all x video old the I.O. she x video old will ever need. x video old It should serve her x video old well for x video old years to come. She is very happy with it. x video old It was a x video old fun father/daughter project as x video old well.Supports DDR5 Memory, up to 5600(OC) MHzPremium Thermal Solution: Extended x video old Heatsink Design and M.2 Shield Frozr are built for high performance system and non-stop x video old worksMSI x video old ships x video old 2 x video old Sata cables: one angled and one is straight. x video old The x video old MSI Gaming AMD Radeon 6600 x video old graphics card is installed in the PCIe Gen 4 slot that just below the x video old D3&D4 cover. Because x video old the other x video old PCIe slot is too close to x video old the power supply case and the x video old graphics card has x video old no clearance to fit. If x video old it did, the fans would be blocked. However, the graphics card x video old blocks access to x video old sata ports 5 & 6. x video old MSI included an angled x video old sata cable that x video old will BARELY fit x video old between the graphics x video old card and x video old the CPU card. The included angled x video old sata x video old cable is x video old 15mm x video old high and has a 10mm depth between the sata connection and the molded angled cable case. The cable of the sata cable has x video old to run x video old over top of the D3-D4 x video old cover which is 10mm above the sata x video old ports 5 & 6. I need another x video old angled sata cable. The x video old problem is that most angled x video old sata cables are either low profile and the D3-D4 case x video old prevents x video old the cable x video old from x video old being x video old snapped x video old in OR the molded case of the connector is more than 15mm and x video old that prevents the graphics card from being seated.I have yet to find a sata cable to that matches the dimensions x video old of the angled sata cable that MSI included and x video old I have asked them for x video old a source to x video old purchase one. They have not responded and it does not x video old appear that they sell them (they x video old should). They really should x video old ship x video old two angled cables x video old since x video old they x video old had x video old to know that their own graphics card x video old was x video old going to make x video old 99% of the angled sata cables that can be purchased unusable.

2: MSI ships 2 Sata cables: one angled and one is straight. The MSI Gaming AMD Radeon 6600 graphics card is installed in the PCIe Gen 4 slot that just below the D3&D4 cover. Because the other PCIe slot is too close to the power supply case and the graphics card has no clearance to fit. If it did, the fans would be blocked.
