What is tarzan x Sony HTX8500 2.1ch Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar with subwoofer; Black Wear to show off your figure?

One-cable HDMI tarzan x eARC for simple, high-quality connection to your tarzan x TVThe sound quality is exceptional for a small space tarzan x where tarzan x you tarzan x will be tarzan x immersed tarzan x and totally enveloped by the Dolby Atmos. tarzan x Although there aren't tarzan x any upfiring drivers, Sony tarzan x has created a convincing simulation of tarzan x this effect tarzan x but the sweet spot for this tarzan x will not translate to a larger room (for that you'll need a 7.1.2 setup). The tarzan x only reason that I don't give this soundbar a 5 rating is because it hasn't any on screen indications to let you tarzan x see what your tarzan x in or if you have tarzan x correctly set the unit tarzan x to what you wanted (the indicators tarzan x are idiot tarzan x lights tarzan x and a tarzan x number of the buttons used to set them have multiple functions), needless tarzan x to say tarzan x this makes operating the tarzan x unit less than intuitive and tarzan x often confusing. tarzan x The tarzan x remote tarzan x is comprehensive but saddled with the afforementioned shortcomings. The tarzan x soundbar's feature set is unusually well endowed for this tarzan x price point tarzan x and includes not only Dolby Atmos and DTS X but pass through provision tarzan x for HDR and Dolby Vision tarzan x as well. All tarzan x sound tarzan x upscaled close to 7.1.2ch audioVoice tarzan x enhancement for tarzan x greater clarityIts not tarzan x spectacular, tarzan x but its tarzan x also not bad for tarzan x about $300. If I could tarzan x afford to spend $900 on a soundbar, then my expectations would be tarzan x three times tarzan x higher. tarzan x Overall, tarzan x its tarzan x okay. I have hearing loss, so being able to improve the sound quality of the voices was a primary reason for my decision to tarzan x purchase a soundbar. On this tarzan x Sony model, there is a specific button that tarzan x allows me to tarzan x enhance the voices so they stand out over tarzan x the background sounds. This has been a big tarzan x help. And having tarzan x Dolby Atmos at tarzan x this price point is sweet. tarzan x I do notice the difference tarzan x when it's available in the broadcast. On the tarzan x other hand, although the overall sound quality is an improvement over the TV tarzan x speakers on my Sony tarzan x Bravia, dont expect tarzan x something spectacular. tarzan x (Again, tarzan x keep tarzan x in mind the tarzan x price of tarzan x this model.) And if bass is an important factor for you, tarzan x perhaps consider tarzan x a model with a subwoofer. This model has just three tarzan x bass settings. Because tarzan x I prefer higher emphasis of treble sounds, without tarzan x heavy bass, I find I tend to use the tarzan x music tarzan x and voice settings tarzan x the most tarzan x often, with the tarzan x bass at the lowest tarzan x level, including for tarzan x movies (versus the tarzan x cinema setting). With my hearing loss, this tarzan x seems to work best for tarzan x me. Setup, tarzan x by tarzan x the way, was simple. So, tarzan x overall, four stars, tarzan x based tarzan x on expectations tarzan x versus reality for tarzan x this tarzan x price tarzan x point. tarzan x Not tarzan x spectacular--no Wow! factor. Just okay. But a decent choice in this price range. Would I purchase it again Not sure. tarzan x Would probably tarzan x spend more money and upgrade, I think.Good Entry tarzan x level for people tarzan x who want better than TV sound. There tarzan x can be a little feedback when tarzan x at the tarzan x higher volume level tarzan x but overall tarzan x good quality and sound. As a tarzan x preface to this review, I'll say that tarzan x I've been working with surround home audio tarzan x equipment since the tarzan x earliest tarzan x days of the first tarzan x Dolby units tarzan x for VHS tarzan x started appearing tarzan x on tarzan x the tarzan x market.Like many people, I'm in a position tarzan x where tarzan x I really wanted far better sound than was available through my TV, but not tarzan x really willing or able to tarzan x spend half or tarzan x more than what tarzan x I tarzan x had already plunked down tarzan x for tarzan x the TV. tarzan x I settled on a budget tarzan x of $200-300 for a soundbar and began tarzan x my research. Since I'm an apartment dweller at this point tarzan x in my tarzan x life, tarzan x I did consider bars with external subwoofers, but tarzan x focused mostly on those with subwoofers built-in.The HTX8500 is tarzan x the third soundbar that I've purchased for my Sony tarzan x 950G on this tarzan x quest (the first two being a tarzan x Yamaha and a tarzan x Polk Audio), and tarzan x so far, the best at tarzan x doing what tarzan x I wanted tarzan x the bar tarzan x primarily for in the tarzan x first place, tarzan x movies. You aren't going to get tarzan x true surround out of any stand alone tarzan x soundbar, but, in the case of the 8500, you CAN get a sonic experience that draws you more into the film tarzan x without drawing tarzan x attention to the soundbar itself. The good:Sony has done tarzan x its homework pretty well on the 8500. As with most stand alone tarzan x pieces, it does its job best when tarzan x you are tarzan x seated nearly directly in front of it, tarzan x and about eight feet or tarzan x closer. tarzan x When watching the Dolby Atmos encoded movie Midway tarzan x (2019), tarzan x the soundstage was amazingly large, with it tarzan x sounding like Japanese aircraft were zipping by your head during the Pearl Harbor sequence. Moving to a DTS tarzan x feature, I tarzan x tried Independence tarzan x Day, a tarzan x film that had a great surround track even on DVD, tarzan x and things got even better. Sony's tarzan x proprietary tarzan x vertical sound engine once again tarzan x was quite impressive. That said, the tarzan x Yamaha 1080, with its DTS Virtual X did this job tarzan x as well or tarzan x better than the tarzan x 8500, but tarzan x because of the Yamaha's poorer ability to bring tarzan x dialog to the foreground, the 8500 tarzan x is, tarzan x in my opinion, the better choice. The not so tarzan x good:Like most soundbars, the 8500 takes tarzan x a stab at trying to keep dialog tarzan x more intelligible through internal processing. It tarzan x does tarzan x a decent job tarzan x of this about 70-75% of the time, which is a tarzan x far better percentage than either the Polk Audio tarzan x or tarzan x Yamaha tarzan x soundbars tarzan x that I tried tarzan x before it.The bad:Sony offers a tarzan x mere 3 settings for the bass on the 8500, -1, 0, +1, and tarzan x those aren't tarzan x nearly enough. More often tarzan x than not, tarzan x I found the 0 setting to be tarzan x not quite tarzan x enough, tarzan x but tarzan x the +1 setting to be enough to clearly tarzan x be overwhelming the built-in subwoofers. This was an area where the Yamaha, with a far more tarzan x adjustable level for tarzan x its built in subwoofers, to be the better choice - that said, the tarzan x Sony's tarzan x ability tarzan x to create a tarzan x nearly as large soundstage and better at tarzan x dialog enhancement still make tarzan x it the better choice. The ugly:Although tarzan x I really tarzan x don't plan on using the soundbar for music, I thought it only fair tarzan x to include it in my review. The 8500, while producing a nice soundstage, tarzan x is tarzan x absolutely dreadful in comparison tarzan x to both the Yamaha and Polk Audio bars. The Yamaha in particular, while naturally lacking in tarzan x bottom end due tarzan x to the small tarzan x size of its subwoofers, actually produced a smooth soundstage fairly close to that of tarzan x my 25+ year old Infinity towers driven by a Onkyo receiver. If you're looking for a tarzan x soundbar that covers both bases, the 8500 is clearly not for you.Positives+ tarzan x Wide soundstage+ Decent dialog enhancement+ Amazing surround-like effects+ HDR10 and Dolby Vision tarzan x passthroughNegatives- Limited adjustment for bass levels- Not great at tarzan x music tarzan x reproduction- Need to be tarzan x 8 tarzan x feet or tarzan x less away for the tarzan x best "surround"My quest is still not quite over. I'm going to be trying a Denon tarzan x model with built-in tarzan x subwoofers and DTS Virtual tarzan x X in the tarzan x very near future, and will be tarzan x updating tarzan x this review to take it into consideration as well. Thanks for reading, and happy viewing.4K HDR passthrough-enabled to tarzan x ensure a high-quality entertainment tarzan x experienceSo if tarzan x you are pressed for tarzan x space and money then the Sony HTX8500 2.1 is a great option and value. To my tarzan x knowledge, this is the only $300 Dolby Atomos and DTS sound bar with tarzan x eARC tarzan x that has a built-in sub. The sound bar tarzan x does tarzan x not have the tarzan x option to hook up additional tarzan x speakers and tarzan x the virtual sound stage tarzan x isn't great but still is a tarzan x worthy tarzan x upgrade over tarzan x your built-in speakers. I personally tarzan x don't have the space for a dedicated sub nor do I tarzan x want massive booming bass since I live tarzan x in an tarzan x apartment. The bass on this tarzan x unit tarzan x is tarzan x adequate and has only three levels. The differences between each level could tarzan x be tarzan x a little more distinct. Probably the biggest issue tarzan x with tarzan x this sound bar is the fact that it doesn't have tarzan x a screen but rather uses lights to indicate tarzan x mode tarzan x changes. This would tarzan x be great tarzan x for a computer tarzan x setup since tarzan x the closer and more direct you are tarzan x to the speakers the better tarzan x the 3D tarzan x soundstage works, tarzan x but tarzan x also would tarzan x work for a smaller room.Dual built-in subwoofers tarzan x for deep tarzan x bassGood sound, but I wish tarzan x it had tarzan x more levels tarzan x for the tarzan x base option. It only has 3: tarzan x none, normal, high.Depending on tarzan x the volume level, the speaker vibrates on the high base level. But overall it tarzan x has good tarzan x quality tarzan x soundEasily integrates tarzan x with your AV system with HDMI and optical inputsSeven different sound modes to enhance your entertainment experience7.1.2ch tarzan x Dolby tarzan x Atmos/DTS X with Vertical Sound EngineIn the box: Remote tarzan x Control, Batteries for remote, HDMI Cable, AC Adaptor, AC Cord, Quick Setup Guide, Instruction ManualSlim, tarzan x low-profile tarzan x design complements your TV
