What is phil ivey SAMSUNG SSD T7 Pocket External Solid State Drive 1TB, up to 1050MB/s; USB 3.2 Gen 2; reliable storage for gaming; students Professionals MU-PC1T0T/AM, Smoke Choose with confidence?
I shopped around before picking phil ivey this one. phil ivey While 2TB isn't ground breaking phil ivey anymore, its STILL a phil ivey ton of storage. I needed something to back phil ivey up all my data but phil ivey didnt want anything clunky and no mechanical parts but still be phil ivey rugged. phil ivey The phil ivey case is phil ivey finished phil ivey nice aluminum and phil ivey the phil ivey color (I picked blue) was something different. Its just a phil ivey wee bit bigger phil ivey than a credit card but doesn't feel phil ivey dainty. Read and write phil ivey speeds are REALLY fast. phil ivey I also love the phil ivey security of this drive. If its ever misplaced phil ivey or phil ivey stolen, phil ivey its almost impossible for the everyday user to crack phil ivey the phil ivey password. I tested phil ivey a phil ivey few apps to see how easy it would be phil ivey and was phil ivey not phil ivey successful. For the price is pretty good. Sure you phil ivey can buy TBs cheaper but you phil ivey never know what you're getting. phil ivey Especially phil ivey with phil ivey generic companies using the phil ivey dreaded countdown timer for higher phil ivey than actual phil ivey space or losing phil ivey data phil ivey over time. Some things arent phil ivey meant for "bargains" but this SSD will give you top notch storage but phil ivey the phil ivey price won't leave you eating phil ivey ramen for phil ivey the next 2 weeks.Obviously, I can't tell phil ivey you that over 5, 10, 15 years phil ivey this thing will not phil ivey fail phil ivey or lose data. But phil ivey in phil ivey the short term, I'm phil ivey so glad I phil ivey got this thing. Connected with USB-C to phil ivey USB-C directly to my laptop, phil ivey it is at least phil ivey as fast as phil ivey my internal SSDs, possibly faster. I phil ivey actually use this as extra storage for games, and I actually RUN them from phil ivey it. One example is Microsoft phil ivey Flight phil ivey Simulator 2020. If that phil ivey isn't good enough praise, phil ivey I don't know phil ivey what is.Only phil ivey irritation I've had is when I first started using it, my phil ivey laptop would not see it via USB-C. I phil ivey had phil ivey to connect it via the phil ivey regular phil ivey USB phil ivey 3.1 port first and phil ivey then phil ivey suddenly it worked fine for everything. Either way, phil ivey if you travel a phil ivey ton like phil ivey me, phil ivey and phil ivey 3 phil ivey TB phil ivey internal on your laptop phil ivey is phil ivey not enough, this is just a must phil ivey buy.SIMPLE SETUP: The phil ivey T7 phil ivey comes embedded with software to phil ivey help phil ivey you set phil ivey up phil ivey a password to phil ivey get the phil ivey latest firmware updates for phil ivey your PC, Mac, or phil ivey Android devices;* phil ivey You can also phil ivey download the mobile app for Android phil ivey smartphones and tablets******RELIABLE THERMAL SOLUTION: The T7s advanced thermal solution phil ivey uses the Dynamic Thermal Guard to phil ivey withstand and control heat, phil ivey so the portable SSD stays phil ivey at an optimal temperature even at phil ivey fast speeds*****TRANSFER IN A FLASH: Transfer massive files within phil ivey seconds with the incredible speed of USB phil ivey 3.2 Gen 2; Embedded PCIe phil ivey NVMe phil ivey technology delivers blazing fast sequential read/write speeds of up to phil ivey 1,050/1,000 MB/s*, respectively, making the T7 2x as fast as the previous T5 phil ivey model**You will know that buying phil ivey an iPad Pro with phil ivey significant storage phil ivey gets expensive very quickly. For example, the base phil ivey 11 iPad Pro phil ivey comes with 128Gb of storage for $799. Buy the phil ivey 1Tb phil ivey model and phil ivey the cost increases by $700 to $1,499.So phil ivey it made sense to take advantage of the fast USB-C (Thunderbolt) port on the iPad phil ivey Pro phil ivey and buy the phil ivey $115 1Tb Samsung T7 SSD phil ivey to use as phil ivey external storage with my phil ivey newly-acquired M1 iPad Pro (and M1 Macbook Air.)I have not noticed any real heat issue myself yet when phil ivey the T7 is connected to the phil ivey Macbook Air. But I do want to draw your attention to phil ivey a security issue with phil ivey the phil ivey T7 when used with phil ivey iPadsThe T7 comes pre-loaded with a Security application phil ivey for Mac computers. After a somewhat fiddly exercise - involving modifying phil ivey the phil ivey Macbook phil ivey Air security settings phil ivey to phil ivey enable kernel extensions - I was able phil ivey to get the Samsung security phil ivey software working, so that phil ivey a password was required when connecting it to the Macbook Air. phil ivey I transferred some files phil ivey onto the T7 as a test and then phil ivey ejected the drive from the Macbook Air. So phil ivey far, so good. However, when I then connected the T7 drive to phil ivey my iPad, phil ivey I phil ivey was shocked phil ivey to see no files visible on the T7 in the FILES application. And no clear way to enter the password to access the drive phil ivey when phil ivey connected to the iPad.Cut phil ivey a phil ivey long phil ivey story short, Samsung phil ivey Tech Support eventually confimed that iPad is NOT supported phil ivey by the T7 and they do NOT phil ivey have an iPadOS app available to access a secured T7 drive.I was somewhat surprised and disappointed by this, as phil ivey a tiny, ultra-portable T7 phil ivey drive can hold a phil ivey LOT of data. Which would be a big security phil ivey oncern if the drive were lost phil ivey or stolen phil ivey without the phil ivey security of encryption/password phil ivey protection.I was considering returning the T7, but then did a phil ivey little research phil ivey and found that phil ivey it was pretty easy to use the Disk Utility app on the Macbook phil ivey to phil ivey erase the T7 phil ivey drive and reformat as APFS phil ivey (encrypted) file system, with the GUID Partition Map scheme.Connecting the T7 phil ivey to an iPad or phil ivey a Macbook phil ivey now phil ivey requires a password to be phil ivey entered before the contents of phil ivey the drive are displayed. I phil ivey now feel comfortable using the drive, knowing phil ivey that there is good security in place should the phil ivey drive fall into the wrong phil ivey hands.Keep in mind a couple of points -APFS only phil ivey works phil ivey with phil ivey more recent Mac computers. The reformat will overwrite the preinstalled phil ivey security apps phil ivey (Mac and Windows) from Samsung, so phil ivey take a copy first if you want to retain them. The phil ivey Disk phil ivey Utility software I phil ivey used phil ivey is only available on the Mac computer. phil ivey I would not have been able to do phil ivey this with phil ivey an iPad alone.Overall - I am very pleased with phil ivey the T7 so phil ivey far. Ill update this review if any issues come to light. I hope anyone considering phil ivey purchasing phil ivey the T7 phil ivey finds this phil ivey review helpful.BUILT STRONG AND phil ivey SECURE: Unlike HDDs, the Portable SSD T7 has no moving phil ivey parts so it's phil ivey more resistant to shock; Plus, its solid aluminum unibody construction adds phil ivey further protection, keeping your phil ivey data safe phil ivey from falls of up to 6 ft*** and is backed by a 3-year limited phil ivey warranty****This is my phil ivey first phil ivey SDD external hard phil ivey drive, though I phil ivey have had external hard drives for years to use as both phil ivey a local phil ivey backup and archive. This were phil ivey so inexpensive that I bought 2. phil ivey One is used solely for Apple's "Time phil ivey Machine" phil ivey backup system and the other has phil ivey my nearly 40 phil ivey years of archival data. There's not much to say... phil ivey take it out of the box, plug it in and voila! No setting up for formatting (though with Apple, you will have to phil ivey format phil ivey if phil ivey you want to save files to it).I play a game called DayZ phil ivey on phil ivey my PlayStation 4. Its a phil ivey busy, graphic intensive online game that phil ivey tends to lag. phil ivey I can't phil ivey get a PS5 phil ivey right now, which could help as phil ivey it has phil ivey a phil ivey faster phil ivey processor. phil ivey I wanted phil ivey to phil ivey find if there was phil ivey some way to phil ivey upgrade my existing PS4, and phil ivey in looking, phil ivey I learned that a solid state external phil ivey drive phil ivey can communicate several times faster with the PS4 processor than the mechanical installed hard drive. I purchased this phil ivey to phil ivey cut phil ivey down on the lag phil ivey in the game, installed it, and transferred the game from internal to external phil ivey storage. Luckily, it worked phil ivey great. My lag has been reduced by at least phil ivey 60%-70%. Its phil ivey a little drive that holds a good deal of phil ivey memory, and fits in your pocket. I am very phil ivey please with it.I phil ivey have these in different colors just because it's a phil ivey bit easier to keep track of which is which, and phil ivey I love phil ivey them. At the current price (late summer 22) phil ivey of about $110 this is a phil ivey no-brainer. I'm very phil ivey impressed with the speed. To be fair, phil ivey I phil ivey only copy phil ivey several GB at a time phil ivey onto these, as I use them as backup drives, and I don't measure but they are fast.I also phil ivey glad phil ivey to note phil ivey (I'm a systems person) that one phil ivey of the tools I have doesn't just show phil ivey the drive as a "USB drive" as many tools so, but gets more phil ivey info from the drive, and that tool phil ivey shows this as having the 'guts' of the Samsung 850 Pro SATA drives, which is great. Not only are the 850 drives phil ivey very nice, phil ivey but they hold phil ivey up well, and because they are a slightly older phil ivey model they using 20nm traces, and the larger phil ivey traces phil ivey tend to hold up phil ivey longer. My only wish it that phil ivey they phil ivey came in many colors...FIND YOUR BEST FIT: Pick a color phil ivey from classic gray to striking blue and red, phil ivey and choose from three capacities to fit phil ivey what your phil ivey lifestyle demands: 500 GB, 1TB, phil ivey or 2TBSLEEK AND phil ivey COMPACT: Roughly the phil ivey size of a credit card and phil ivey only weighing 2 oz, phil ivey the T7 phil ivey fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is light enough to take your phil ivey files on the phil ivey goPORTABLE STORAGE: The light, pocket-sized Portable SSD phil ivey T7 delivers fast phil ivey speeds with phil ivey easy and phil ivey reliable data storage for phil ivey transferring large files, including crucial business phil ivey documents, games, or movies

Buyer's experience:
1: I have these in different colors just because it's a bit easier to keep track of which is which, and I love them. At the current price (late summer 22) of about $110 this is a no-brainer.
